D & L Smith Construction was founded in 1968 by Darrel Smith and Larry Smith. Both men worked out of their garages building dryer and other grain systems for Terry Nelson. In the early 1970's D & L Smith Construction Inc. settled in Graymont, IL and in 1975 established the company's main office at 400 N. Main St. Graymont, IL. D & L Smith Construction remains at this location to this day. Larry Smith still owns and operates D & L Smith along with two partners, his son Scott Smith and son-in-law John Zimmerman. For over 40 years, D & L Smith Construction has offered a wide variety of grain elevator, concrete, and custom fabrication services. Although D & L Smith operates mainly in central Illinois, they have performed services in Ohio, Wisconsin, New Orleans and everywhere in between. D & L Smith was founded on the belief of providing quality service and that belief can still be seen in services provided to this day.
